TO YOUR DOOR
A short film by James Bacskay
To Your Door is a quietly hopeful short film about human connection in an increasingly isolating world. Centred on an unlikely relationship between a Brazilian immigrant navigating the precarity of the gig economy and a wealthy, autistic Australian man living in self-imposed isolation, the film explores loneliness, dignity, and the transactional nature of modern life with warmth and restraint.
Told through a grounded, humanist lens that is writer / director James Bacskay wheelhouse, To Your Door blends gentle humour with emotional honesty, championing neurodiverse and immigrant perspectives while asking what it truly means to show up for one another. Rooted in lived experience and designed for strong festival and community engagement, the project reflects Carioca’s commitment to culturally attuned storytelling with both local resonance and international reach.
